A Bendigo man’s birthday took a thrilling turn when a birthday card from his dear friend exploded with a top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket worth $250,000.

The Goldfields resident’s winning $10 Triple Match Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Golden Square Newsagency, 303 High Street, Golden Square.

When an official from The Lott called to confirm the winnings news, the elated man shared he was still reeling with shock days after claiming his instant windfall.

“It’s been such a whirlwind of excitement, and things are only just starting to sink in!” he said.

“Funnily enough, I received the ticket as a birthday gift in a card from one of my close mates. What are the odds?!

“My mum was over the moon when I shared the good news with her. I told her I’d be splitting half of the prize with her.

“It’s going to change my life, without a doubt.I’ll finally be able to buy a place to call home.

“I’m also thinking I’ll invest a big portion of the prize and watch it grow.

“I’m going to start by taking the family out for tea to celebrate.”

Golden Square Newsagency owner Kevin Chen shared he felt thrilled to have sold a major prize-winning ticket worth $250,000.

“We were thrilled to hear we’d sold another major prize-winning ticket at our outlet,” he said.

“Since taking over the business last June, we’ve been fortunate enough to sell multiple major prize-winning entries, including a division one winning ticket in June.

“Our customers are going to be so excited to discover a local has won and we hope we can keep the winning streak rolling.

“Congratulations to our winner. We hope the top prize win brings happiness to their life.”
