A Birralee man has found the secret to a great day at work - revealing a $100,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket while having a cup of tea at the start of the workday.
The Tasmanian player scored one of the top prizes on a $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket he purchased from Mr Lotto - Invermay, 63-65A Invermay Road, Invermay.
Confirming the exciting news with an official from the Lott this morning, the overjoyed winner relayed how he discovered he’d won an extraordinary $100,000.
“I love the Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its tickets. I always get them because they’re very entertaining,” he shared.
“I was actually at work when I scratched it. I was sitting down, having a cup of tea, about to start the day and thought I’d quickly scratch it before I had to start.
“Initially, I thought I won $10,000. I went up to one of my colleagues and told him, and he couldn’t believe it!
“I went back, finished my cup of tea and decided to have another look at it. That’s when I realised I’d actually won $100,000!
“So $10,000 jumped to $100,000. I went back to my colleague and told him I’d made a mistake and in fact had won $100,000.
“He almost fell out of his chair!
“God I was over the moon. It was an incredible feeling.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t take off the day to celebrate. I still had to work, but I did celebrate by going out for a nice dinner.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the elated winner said the timing of his win couldn’t be better.
“Well I am currently building my house, so timing is impeccable,” he explained.
“It will go towards the house. It’s amazing!”
Mr Lotto – Invermay team member Helen Morice said she couldn’t be happier for their winning customer.

“I was there when the winner came in to check his ticket.
