The festive season has hit high gear for a Boyne Island grandma after she discovered she’d won the top prize of $25,000 on a $2 Festive Fun Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The Queensland woman bought her winning $2 Festive Fun Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Boyne Island Newsagency, Shop 3, Boyne Plaza, Boyne Island.
The regular player shared her delight with a Golden Casket official today, explaining she’d been on a winning streak for a week before scratching the top prize.
“I actually won $50 on a Crosswords ticket so I bought a few more scratchies,” she laughed.
“I was scratching one and I even had my glasses on but I said to my husband ‘you better look at this, I think I’ve done something wrong’.”
The delighted grandma was in absolute shock when her husband told her she wasn’t seeing things.
“He told me ‘you haven’t’ done anything wrong, in fact, you’ve done everything right’,” she screamed with joy.
The woman shared how she planned to spend her windfall and confessed she’s excited to use her prize to create a “bright Christmas” for her family and put it towards some home renovations.
“It’s very handy, we can’t wait to get some things done around the house.”
Boyne Island Newsagency employee Lisa Hull said the outlet was buzzing with excitement after selling the winning ticket.
“It was such lovely surprise when we scanned the ticket and discovered our customer had won the top prize!” she said.
“It’s certainly not something you see every day!”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
The latest range of Instant Scratch-Its tickets are available at Golden Casket outlets.
