A Broadview man has his unusual theory for choosing his Keno numbers to thank for a recent $160,000 Spot 7 win.

The happy winner held a Keno Spot 7 winning entry in draw 2696469 drawn Saturday 12 December 2020 and takes home a prize of $160,080.00.

Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the regular player revealed his unusual way of choosing his numbers.

“It feels pretty good to win $160,000! It will be a nice Christmas!” he exclaimed.

“I play about once a week, and so I put $20 on my ticket when I play, rather than playing smaller amounts more often.

“I always pick my own numbers and when I do, I always make sure there are consecutive numbers in there.

“I don’t like the idea of ‘the shotgun effect’ where you pick random numbers all over the grid. I reckon it’s harder.

“That’s why I play consecutive numbers, and if I get four out of seven or five out of seven it’s great. Getting seven out of seven is just a great bonus!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno windfall, the loving family man said he was eager to do some renovations on his house to make room for his large clan.

“I’m going to use it to put an extension on our house to get a few extra rooms,” he explained.

“Renovations are expensive, so we’ve been putting it off, so this will come in handy for that.

“We’ve got a big family, so this will really help us out!”

The winning entry was purchased at Northpark Newsagency, Shop 78 Northpark Shopping Centre, 264 Main North Road, Prospect.

Northpark Newsagency owner Vinod Bhanderi said he was thrilled for his regular customer.

“This is the biggest Keno prize we’ve ever sold so we are thrilled!” he exclaimed.

“He was really excited when he realised he’d won. He came and told me he’d scored a major prize and I was so shocked I didn’t believe it myself until I scanned the ticket and saw the numbers.

“It’s great a regular customer has won! We wish him all the best with his prize.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 28 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $4.46 million.

The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.66 million was won by a Whyalla player in December 2019, and a prize of more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2020.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.

The home of Australia’s Official Lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.
