A Calliope woman is excited to enjoy the finer things in life after winning a top prize of $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $5 Sunny Safari ticket was purchased at Alive Pharmacy Calliope, Shop 17, Calliope Shopping Centre, Calliope.
Sharing her disbelief with an official from the Lott this morning, the Central Queensland woman said her week had been turned upside down in the best kind of way.
“I was scratching it while I was with my husband and initially we thought we’d won $100,” she said.
“I checked it again and that’s when I realised it was actually $100,000.
“I screamed and told my husband and he said ‘No way! That wouldn’t happen to us’.
“But sure enough, it did!
“I was so excited. There were so many emotions.
“We’ve had a rough couple of weeks.
“It’s really been crazy. But then I won this, so I am very happy.
“This win really does mean so much to us.
“It still needs to sink in. It doesn’t feel real yet!
“I’m feeling a whirlwind of emotions.
“I am over the moon!
“I am going to celebrate with some cake, of course!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant win, the overjoyed woman said she was excited to spoil herself.
“With everything going on in the world, we can’t do any travel, so instead we’ve decided to keep it for lots of small things,” she shared.
“We will go on some little trips around Australia, go out for nicer dinners and lunches, and buy some things I’ve always wanted.
“I will also share some with my family.”
Alive Pharmacy Calliope manager Clare Stone said she couldn’t be more thrilled for her local customer.
“We are ecstatic!,” she said.
“She came into the store and checked it, and it was an incredible moment to be a part of.
“She is so deserving of it! The win couldn’t have happened to a nicer lady!
“We really do wish her the very best with her prize.
“It’s amazing news for our little community, especially because the win has gone to someone so deserving.
“We’ve had a few major wins in the past.
“The last Instant Scratch-Its top prize we sold was at Christmas time. We can’t wait to sell another!”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
