An East Mackay man is finding it hard to believe that his free bonus ticket has won him a marvellous $200,000 prize in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.
The North Queenslander held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1684 drawn Wednesday 24 July 2024.
The winning man was overjoyed by the winning news and told lottery officials that the prize was the perfect amount for him to be mortgage-free.
“You’ve got to be sh***ing me!” he laughed when an official from The Lott revealed his prize.
“How much have I won? Two hundred grand? Can you repeat that again?
“Hooley dooley! Wow! Just wow!
“That’s the perfect amount. That’s exactly what I need to make me mortgage-free.
“People always laugh at me for playing lottery games — I’ve always told them that one day I’d win. Funny that!
“I’m feeling bloody fantastic!
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
He received his winning bonus entry of one number when he purchased a ticket into another lottery game at Moores News & Casket Agency, 332 Shakespeare Street, Mackay.
Moores News & Casket Agency team member Shannon Cole said she was stoked to hear the outlet had been responsible for a 1st Prize-winning entry worth $200,000.
“It’s amazing to hear our mighty team played a role in this win,” she said.
“We’ll be celebrating this win in-store and with our customers for many weeks to come.
“A massive congratulations to our special winner from the whole Moores News & Casket Agency team.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $1.72 million for draw 1685, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now over $2.9 million for draw 10863.
In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
