A young Canberra man working in the Australian Defence Force is today happily contemplating what life will look like after scoring the Set for Life division one prize of $4.8 million, paid over the next two decades.
The winner, who is in his 20s, held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2001, drawn Wednesday 27 January 2021. He takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
This morning, an official from The Lott broke the news to the young man, who was completely oblivious he’d become Set for Life.
“Oh my god! Are you kidding me?” he laughed.
“Is this even real? I don’t know how to feel! I don’t know what to do!
“This is really good! This is crazy. This is so crazy!
“Oh my god, I am supposed to be working today, but there’s no way I will be able to.
“I think I am going to have to call in sick and spend the day celebrating instead.”
When asked how the he planned to enjoy his prize, the young man admitted plans were already forming.
“I am definitely going to look after my parents,” he shared.
“Then I might get myself a house.
“I am sure there will be a few holidays and investments too.
“I am sure I will keep working. I want to be sensible with my prize.
“It’s just so crazy to think about!”
The winner’s life-changing 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2001 on Wednesday 27 January 2021 were 18, 43, 35, 41, 1, 23 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 17 and 30.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2001.
This win marks the 72nd Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the second Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 256 so far this financial year.
In 2020, there were 16 Set for Life division one winners across Australia who will receive $76.8 million during the next 20 years.
By the end of 2020, $44.88 million in monthly payments of $20,000 had been paid to the 70 Set for Life division one winners across Australia.
