A Morphett Vale woman has revealed that despite being disappointed her European holiday was cancelled due to the pandemic, she is more than happy with a consolation prize in the form of a $1 million Monday X Lotto win.

The thrilled winner held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4010, drawn Monday 21 September 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

The wins come two days after an Adelaide couple and an Aldinga Beach player each took home a $740,496.00 division one prize in Saturday’s X Lotto draw, creating four division one winners in South Australia in just two days.

Sharing her joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the Morphett Vale player recounted how she discovered the life-changing win.

“Thank you! I can’t believe it! Oh my gosh! It’s just amazing!” she exclaimed.

“You don’t think it will ever happen to you. It’s just ridiculous! I’m still in shock. It just feels surreal.

“I was sitting next to my hubby last night while he was watching the footy and I saw the winning numbers come up on the screen.

“I thought to myself ‘a few of those look familiar’ so I went to check my ticket.

“I saw that I had all of the winning numbers and I was screaming out to my husband ‘I’m a millionaire! I’ve just won $1 million!’.

“He thought I was just joking and got annoyed I was interrupting him watching the football.

“When I showed him we’d won he didn’t mind the interruption at all!

“We cracked open a bottle of champagne to celebrate!”

The thrilled woman revealed that she was close to not having purchased the winning ticket as she was initially supposed to be travelling Europe on a long-awaited holiday.

“We’d actually booked a trip to Europe, and we were supposed to be there now,” she explained.

“But we had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s strange to think that if we had been in Europe, I wouldn’t have purchased this ticket and won $1 million.

“It’s safe to say when we do get to go to Europe we’ll be going business class for sure!”

The happy winner also confessed she had a few other plans for her million-dollar windfall.

“We’ve just got a few things to fix up around the house, and we’d love to help our family out,” she explained.

“I’m still working, but I might look to retire soon. You never really know what’s ahead. It will be handy to have this as a nest egg.

“I’m just over-the-moon I’ll have the option to retire and take some time to myself.”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her entry at Campbell’s Newsagency Morphett Vale, Shops 14 & 15, Southgate Plaza, Sherrifs Road, Morphett Vale.

Check your tickets Salisbury! Mystery millionaire at large

The second of last night’s South Australian entries is yet to be claimed with officials from The Lott eagerly waiting for the mystery winner to check their ticket.

The ticket is unregistered, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winner and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning entry was sold at OTR Salisbury Parabanks, 106-110 Salisbury Highway, Salisbury.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer urged Monday X Lotto players to check their tickets.

“There are one million reasons why you should check your lottery tickets today!” she exclaimed.

“You may have woken up a newly-minted millionaire and gone about your day completely oblivious to the fact you are the mystery millionaire we are searching for!

“Players tell us they find their tickets in all sort of places, so make sure you check your handbag, your wallet, your fridge door and even your car glovebox.

“If you do find the ticket and realise you are one of the mystery millionaires we are looking for make sure you keep your ticket safe and call 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

Ms Spencer also reminded players about the importance of registering their tickets to an Easiplay Club card.

“We encourage all players to register their entries so we can contact them in case of a win,” she explained.

“Registering your entry also means your prize is secure so if anything happens to that ticket, you can still be paid.”

Last financial year, Monday & Wednesday X Lotto created 86 millionaires across Australia.

The winning numbers in Monday X Lotto draw 4010 on Monday 21 September 2020 were 22, 35, 18, 1, 4 and 8, while the supplementary numbers were 14 and 38.

Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday X Lotto draw 4010 – both from South Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 290 so far this calendar year, including 27 won by SA Lotteries customers.

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 101 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $98 million.
