A Rutherford shopper has had their Christmas wish come true after scratching one of the top prizes of $100,000 on a $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $5 Christmas Wish Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Rutherford Marketplace Newsagency, Shop 8, Rutherford Marketplace, Rutherford.
But who the winner is and how they plan to use their instant windfall will forever remain a mystery, as the ticketholder has chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said with the winner’s bank balance set to balloon by $100,000 this week, there was no doubt this Rutherford shopper had extra reasons to celebrate this New Year.
“We are unsure if our Instant Scratch-Its top prize winner received their winning ticket for Christmas or as a New Year gift, but I’m sure all their 2019 dreams now seem closer to reality with $100,000 about to hit their bank account!,” she said.
“Imagine starting the New Year knowing you’ve won a $100,000 top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket. What a way to begin 2019!
“Think of all the wishes and dreams you could achieve after scoring a top prize Instant Scratch-Its win! In the past other Instant Scratch-Its winners have gone on incredible holidays, paid off their mortgages or bought flash new cars.”
Rutherford Marketplace Newsagency employee Cherokee Hall said the outlet was thrilled to have made on their customers $100,000 richer.
“That is really exciting! We haven’t had a win for a few years so we were certainly due for one,” she exclaimed.
“We are ecstatic for our customer! What a great time of year to win. Congratulations to them!
“Hopefully we can make some of our other customer’s big winners soon!”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
