A Salisbury Downs man has confessed he owes his $1.9 million X Lotto win from the weekend to a spur-of-the-moment coffee run.

The Adelaide resident held one of the five division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4045, drawn Saturday 25 April 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $1,982,910.00.

Sharing his joy this morning with an official from the Lott, the happy winner revealed he had nearly missed the chance to purchase his weekly ticket because he had been too busy with work.

“This is just unbelievable news!” he exclaimed.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time, I can tell you!

“We’ve had a bit of a bad run lately, so it’s been good to get some good news.

“It’s just absolutely magnificent. You have no idea. It’s unbelievable!

“I buy a ticket every week, but I hadn’t had a chance to grab my entry yet and I was working on Saturday.

“I was out and about and thought I’d stop and grab a coffee for myself and my workmate. While I was there, I also picked up my ticket. I am glad I stopped because I would have missed out otherwise!

“I scanned my ticket on Sunday morning and it said I had to call the head office. That’s when I knew I’d won something good.

“I couldn’t have imagined it would be this much! It’s just fantastic!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his new millionaire status, the humble man said it would take a bit of getting used to.

“It’s a big shock to be honest. We have worked hard for everything we’ve got and struggled at times, and when a gift like this comes along you think to yourself ‘bloody hell’. It’s mind blowing!” he confessed.

“We’ve got a few bills to pay off so we’ll put it towards those, but then me and my wife will have to sit down and think about the rest.

“I’ll give some to the kids and I think when the time is right, we’ll go on a bit of a holiday.

“It’s a nice thing to have to worry about, I can tell you!”

The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at OTR Salisbury Downs, 328 Salisbury Highway, Salisbury Downs.

OTR Salisbury Downs spokesperson Kim Wimshurst said the team was happily sharing the excitement with their customers.

“What an incredible win for our customer! It’s always great hearing these winning stories and now at OTR we have another one to share,” she said.

“AT OTR, we’re thrilled for our customer and we hope to see more lottery winners at OTR soon.

“Congratulations to them!”
