While Coober Pedy might be known as the opal capital of the world, it can now also be known as a millionaire maker after one player walking away with a lustrous $1 million X Lotto win.
The South Australian winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4140, drawn Monday 20 December 2021. They take home a $1 million prize.
However, how the winner plans to spend their windfall will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
The winning entry was purchased at Coober Pedy IGA Fresh, 28 Hutchison Street, Coober Pedy.
Coober Pedy IGA Fresh is the only outlet in South Australia to have sold two division one lottery prizes in 2021.
Coober Pedy IGA Fresh manager Jean Eborlas said she was glad to hear the division one prize had now been claimed.
“How exciting is that!” she said.
“I’m sure everyone will be so happy to know the winner has finally been united with their division one win.
“We are over the moon for the winner and hope they enjoy their prize. What a great way to start 2022!
“Hopefully we have some more big wins soon.”
The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said she was sure the winner was over the moon after discovering their million-dollar news.
“While we may not know how they plan to enjoy their prize, we have no doubt they are very happy to have become an overnight millionaire,” she exclaimed.
“Other winners tell us they use their windfall to help their families, buy a new house, upgrade their home with renovations or splurge a new car.
“However our winner chooses to use their prize, we hope they enjoy the winning feeling as long as they can.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4140 on Monday 20 December 2021 were 6, 40, 19, 23, 17 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 2 and 7.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4140 – the one from South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 255 so far this financial year, including 22 won by SA Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Monday & Wednesday X Lotto created 95 millionaires across Australia.
