Imagine living your life as a newly-minted multi-millionaire – shopping for the latest Ferrari, travelling the world first-class and owning a mansion by the sea. That could be the reality for one Australian if they take home Thursday’s $60 million Powerball jackpot.

After five weeks of jackpotting, Powerball has soared to a massive $60 million for tomorrow night’s draw.

This year there have been eight Powerball division one winners across Australia who have pocketed more than $316.7 million in prize money. Three of these winners were from New South Wales, three were from Victoria and two were from South Australia.

Tomorrow night’s draw comes after a Chatswood dad won $96.04 million in yesterday's Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1447 - the second largest lottery prize won in Australian history, and an Adelaide man won $10 million in last night's Oz Lotto draw 1332.

Table 1: Where the Powerball division one wins have landed so far in 2019

State 2019 Powerball division one wins Total division one prize money
New South Wales 3 $164,521,259.50
Victoria 3 $74,666,731.77
South Australia 2 $77,602,912.57
Total 8 $316,790,903.84

With an enticing $60 million prize on offer, the Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said players might be interested in the entries that delivered division one to this year’s Powerball winners.

“Of the eight Powerball division one winners so far this year, there was an even split between those who won by marking their entry with their special numbers and those who won with a QuickPick entry, where the lottery terminal randomly chose the numbers,” she said.

“Interestingly, more than a third of this year’s division one winning entries were 25-game entries.  A quarter of the winning entries were Powerhit entries, a special kind of entry unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number that you need to win division one.”

With the entries of our past jackpot winners revealed, Ms Ramsamy said Powerball players now needed to decide if this might sway their entry choice for this week’s draw.

“Do you follow in the footsteps of some of this year’s Powerball division one winners, or maybe try for something different?” she said.

“Either way, make sure you get in early to purchase an entry into that draw as it’s expected to busy both online and instore, particularly leading up to the draw close that evening.”

Ms Ramsamy said anyone who took home a division one prize in Thursday night’s draw would join the exclusive list of Powerball multi-millionaires.

“Imagine checking your entry after Thursday night’s draw to see that you have all seven numbers plus the all-important Powerball number needed to win the jackpot,” she said.

“Past winners have told us they’ve used their prize to quit their jobs forever, book a one-way flight overseas, donated to charities close to their heart, and set their family up for generations to come.

“It’s up to you what you would do if you win the multi-million-dollar prize, but one thing’s for sure, you’d truly be free to play by your own rules.”

Powerball draw 1215 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday 29 August 2019.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 243 so far this calendar year.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, 10 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $398.5 million in prize money.

During this time, the biggest individual Powerball prize was $107,575,649.08, which was won by a Sydney healthcare worker on 17 January 2019. Her windfall set a new record for Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner.

Victoria and New South Wales each enjoyed three division one wins, while Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania each scored one.
