With the first month of 2020 already crossed off the calendar, lottery officials are looking forward to seeing another important milestone marked off – the first Powerball division one winner for 2020.

After four weeks of jackpotting, Powerball has reached a massive $60 million for tonight’s draw, the largest jackpot on offer so far in 2020 and the first time it has reached this level since August 2019.

With an enticing $60 million prize on offer, the Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said one happy player could spend the rest of the year marking other exciting milestones off their calendars.

“Imagine how your plans for the year would change if you scored tonight’s massive $60 million division one prize,” she said.

“You could be spending the rest of the year scheduling overseas holidays, making reservations for delicious fine-dining dinners, watching sporting events from the best seats and setting dates with a personal shopper.

“Instead of checking your work diaries for meetings, you could be checking flight schedules to an exotic overseas location. Rather then reading bus and train timetables for your daily commute you could be living on island time somewhere tropical.

“That could be the reality for Australia’s newest multi-millionaire if they take out Powerball’s massive division one prize on offer this week.

“Not only would they be the first Powerball division one winner of the year but they would also take out the spot as the first Powerball division one winner of the decade.

“If you want to make sure you go down in the history books, make sure you mark your diaries today to get an entry into tonight's Powerball draw before draw close for your chance to win.”

Powerball draw 1238 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday 6 February 2020.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 234 so far this financial year.

Between 1 January and 31 December 2019, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $541.87 million in prize money.

During this time, the biggest individual Powerball prize was $107,575,649.08, which was won by a Sydney healthcare worker on 17 January 2019. Her windfall set a new record for Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner.  In 2019, Powerball offered a $150 million jackpot, the largest ever offered by an Australian lottery game, which was shared by three division one winners.

Of the 14 Powerball division one winning entries in 2019, five landed in New South Wales, four in Queensland, three in Victoria and two in South Australia.
