A recent cleaning spree prompted an Albion Park Rail couple to discover forgotten treasure at the bottom of their bedside drawer – an Instant Scratch-Its ticket worth $100,000.
The top prize-winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Oak Flats Newsagency, 74B Central Avenue, Oak Flats.
Speaking to officials from The Lott, the down-to-earth winning man expressed his gratitude for discovering the forgotten ticket, sharing that the instant win would signal a new chapter in their lives.
“We’re still in shock!” the winning man cheered.
“After having the ticket sitting idle in our bedside drawer for a whole month, I’m feeling so relieved we found it when we did.
“Can you imagine if we completely forgot about it?!
“It all feels so surreal.
“We never expected to win anything this substantial from an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“We’ve always just enjoyed sitting down together and playing a game or two.
“This starts a whole new chapter for us and we’re so grateful.
“It still hasn’t sunk in. Thank you so much.”
Oak Flats Newsagency owner Victor Costabile shared he was thrilled to hear his outlet had sold an Instant Scratch-Its ticket worth $100,000.
“When I first heard our outlet had sold a top prize-winning ticket, I immediately thought of the winner and how happy they were going to be,” he said.
“All our customers are very excited for the lucky winner and it’s the talk around the town.
“Congratulations to our amazing customer! We’re sending you well wishes and happiness.”
