A Devonport man’s long-held dream of owning his own motorcycle track can now come true after winning $2.5 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The Tasmanian held one of the four division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto draw 4155, drawn Saturday 15 May 2021. Each entry won a division one prize of $2.5 million.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the shocked winner said he had just woken up and had no idea his life had changed forever.

“Wait, what? Did you say you’re calling me from Tatts, as in the lottery?” he questioned.

“I just got out of bed! I am still half asleep.

“You must be joking? No!

“I can’t believe this! Oh dear me!

“I need to sit down! I can’t believe it – I’m a multi-millionaire?

“How could I have won $2.5 million! This is insane! This is unreal! It’s phenomenal!

“Oh god, I don’t know what to do right now.

“I am definitely going to celebrate today, but first, I need to sit down and let this incredible news sink in.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his multi-million dollar prize, the overwhelmed winner said he had one thing in mind.

“I’ve always said that if I won the lottery, I would build myself a motorcycle track,” he explained.

“So that’s what I am going to do! And if I am going to build myself a motorcycle track, then I need to get a new bike too.”

The winner’s marked 18-game entry was purchased at Waterfront News & Lotto, 15 Best Street, Devonport.

Waterfront News & Lotto co-owner Rod Hurley said he was elated by the winning news.

“Initially, I had heard Tasmania had a win in the weekend’s draw, but I wasn’t too sure who sold the winning ticket,” he said.

“When I found out we’d sold the ticket, I probably shook the roof with all of my cheering! I had a smile from ear to ear.

“Chris and I have owned Waterfront News & Lotto for just over two and a half years, so to have now sold two division one winning tickets in the last year makes us really happy.

“And it's great to hear that it's a registered player, which hopefully means it's one of our regular customers.

“We’ve been sharing the news with our customers and they are all so excited. It’s the talk of the town.

“It gives us and the team a huge buzz to play a part in such a life-changing event.

“I hope this win means we can get to know a lot more customers from Devonport and around North-West Tassie.”
