Ahead of this weekend’s $20 million Superdraw Saturday, The Lott has delved into last year’s data and uncovered the first name initials, gender, and age groups of those who took out division one wins across all lottery games in 2021.
In the 12 months ending 31 December 2021, players with the first initial M scored the most division one wins across all lottery games with 10.66% (table 1).
The initial J, which snagged the most division one wins in 2019 and 2020, came in second with 9.64% wins in 2021.
The Roberts, Rachels and Raymonds of the country weren’t far behind, with the initial of R taking home 8.12% of division one wins.
The year 2021 turned out to be a great year for those with the first initials of A and D, with each accounting for 7.87% of all wins.
It was less successful for the Uriels, Xaviers and Zanes of the world. No one with a name starting with the letter U, X or Z won a division one lottery prize in 2021. There was also only one division one winner each with an initial starting with F and Q.

Looking at the age groups, players in their 60s won the most major lottery prizes in 2021, taking home more than 30% (table 2).
However, players aged in their 50s and under took home almost half of all division one wins (48.12%).
There was only one player each in their 90s and 100s who took home a division one win in 2021.

Finally, crunching the numbers on gender, more than 61% of division one winners were males. (table 3).

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said only time would tell if the 2021 winner’s profile would ring true for this weekend’s highly anticipated $20 million Superdraw.
“We love delving into division one winners’ data and discovering the trends that emerge,” she said.
“Regardless of your name, birth date, or gender, anyone with a Saturday Lotto ticket in their hands before the draw’s close this weekend has a chance to win a share of the prize.

“In March’s $20 million Superdraw, 16 entries took home division one, each enjoying a prize of $1.25 million.
