A Townsville man is dining his way into the week and ready to spoil his canine companion after discovering he bagged $200,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The winning North Queenslander scored the 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1672, drawn Tuesday 21 May 2024.

“Thank you! I’m very pleased with that,” he laughed when an official from The Lott called to confirm the wondrous news.

“I just checked my tickets 20 minutes ago. I can’t believe it.

“That’s excellent!

“I’ve been playing lotteries for over 15 years. The most I’ve won is four hundred dollars, so this is great.”

When asked how he planned to use his newfound fortune, the winning man was too stunned to make any immediate decisions but hinted at spoiling his nearest and dearest.

“Honestly, I’m not sure!” he said.

“I think I’ll need some time to think about it. Once the win has sunk in, I’ll be able to think clearly.

“I’ll probably spoil the family dog.

“Perhaps a dinner this week to celebrate could be nice too, but other than that, I’m stumped.”

His winning entry of four random numbers was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $19.24 million for draw 1673, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.54 million for draw 10852.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2023, more than 122.7 million wins took home more than $3.76 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Gold Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
