A Browns Plains couple are happily perusing the real estate ads after scratching one of the top prizes of $100,000 on a $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Browns Plains, Shop GF066 Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, 27-49 Browns Plains Road, Browns Plains.
Sharing her excitement with a Golden Casket official today, the happy wife revealed her husband purchased the ticket on a whim.
“We don’t usually play Instant Scratch-Its tickets that often but my husband had just got his tax return back and was out shopping so picked up some $5 Crosswords scratchies,” she explained.
“We ended up winning $20 on those ones so when I was next at the shops I picked up a few more.
“My hubby scratched one of those while he was at home and that’s when he realised he had won.
“He called me to come and check the ticket and I swear we went over it at least six times to make sure we’d actually won.
“We couldn’t believe it!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their instant windfall, the thrilled woman revealed it would set them up with a new home.
“We decided we’d use the windfall to pay off a few bills and then put a deposit down on a new house,” she declared.
Nextra Browns Plains manager Jan Barnes said it was an exciting atmosphere in store when they discovered their outlet had sold a top prize.
“It was very exciting when the customer told us she’d had a win!” she exclaimed.
“It is the second Instant Scratch-Its top prize we’ve sold in two years.
“Hopefully we continue our winning streak.
“It’s also the biggest top prize Instant Scratch-Its ticket we’ve ever sold so hopefully the next one is even bigger too!
“Congratulations to our winners! We are really excited for them!”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
