A farmer from Singleton has declared a weight has been lifted off his shoulders after he became more than $200,000 richer from winning 1st Prize in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw.

The winner’s entry won the guaranteed $200,000 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1131, drawn Friday 21 September 2018.

As well as winning the guaranteed 1st Prize, the winner also won a consolation prize, which bolsters his total windfall to $201,000.00.

When a NSW Lotteries official contacted the winner to confirm his prize, the Singleton farmer revealed the win had come at the perfect time for him.

“It’s brilliant! It cheered my day up, as you can imagine!” he laughed.

“We’ve been going through the drought and things are a bit tough at the moment, so the win will be a godsend.

“I’ve been buying hay for the animals and things are triple the price, so it will be very good. It has come at a great time. Someone up there likes us!

“We’ve been hanging in there, but it is great we’ve now got $200,000 kicking around!”

When asked how he planned to spend his Lucky Lotteries windfall, the grateful winner revealed it would provide much-needed funds to support his drought-ridden farm.

“We raise cattle for the markets and it has been tough, as a lot of our dams have been drying up,” he explained.

“We are going to get a water bore and that can be expensive, so this will go towards things like that.

“It’s a great win! We’ll be using the money for all that and making our life a little less stressful!

“We are just like anyone who wins money really – everyone can use it towards something. But up here, in the drought, it has come at a great time.

“It will help us to do things we needed to do. We were thinking about getting government grants, but now we don’t need to.

“It’s absolutely brilliant. We’ve been looking at a new water tank and a water bore, so we will be implementing a lot of water-saving devices that we’ve had in mind.

“It will basically be our own drought relief!”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 2-number entry from Singleton Discount Drug Store, 122 John Street, Singleton.

Singleton Discount Drug Store lotteries manager, Teymara Dixon, said she was thrilled to have sold the store’s first major prize win in seven years.

“We’ve sold a few winning entries in the past, but this is the first since I’ve been here so I am so thrilled to have sold a winning entry!” she exclaimed.

“It is just fantastic for our customer and a really great feeling knowing it will go to someone who needs it!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the best!”

Last financial year, 113 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $23.57 million. During this time, the biggest individual jackpot prize was won by a young Inner-West Sydney man, who took home $6.87 million.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $20.92 million for draw 1134 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $2.32 million for draw 10249.

NSW Lotteries customers can purchase a single ticket number into the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot for $2.20 and the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot for $5.50. NSW Lotteries is proud to support drought-affected farmers, with the Lott and parent company Tabcorp donating $1 million to drought relief efforts.

The Lott, through Golden Casket, donated $500,000 from unclaimed prize money to the Queensland Government’s Queensland Drought Appeal on 1 September 2018.

This matched a previous, separate donation of $500,000 by the Lott’s parent company, Tabcorp, to various charities helping drought-affected farmers across Queensland and New South Wales.
