An ‘everyday’ couple from Townsville are planning a shopping spree after scratching one of the top prizes of $250,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $10 Cash Spectacular Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Willows News, Shop 177, Willows Shopping Centre, Thuringowa Central.
Speaking with a Golden Casket official today to claim their prize, the wife spoke of her shock at discovering she was an instant winner.
“We got it as a gift from our children,” she explained.
“We never thought this would happen to us. It was such a shock!
“It’s not every day that you win $250,000. It was a great surprise!
“I didn’t believe it was real for so long. I just couldn’t grasp the concept that we had won so much money!”
When asked what the couple planned to do with their prize, the happy woman shared it would be a ‘great boost’.
“You know I’ve never been someone with a great deal of money. All my life I have just been one of those everyday people who needs to plan what they’re doing to do with their money and budget,” she admitted.
“To be honest, I am not quite sure what I will do with the win! It feels so new, so we want to sit down and really think about it.
“We will go on a bit of a shopping spree! Anything that’s worn out or needs replacing, we will be able to replace.
“It’s just good to be able to buy things without worrying about the cost and to be able to spoil ourselves a little.
“And we will take our family out for a nice dinner to celebrate.”
Nextra Willows News supervisor Ann-Marie Alloway said the store was thrilled to have made one of their customers $250,000 richer.
“Gosh, what great news,” she said.
“We are thrilled for our customer!
“We have sold a few top prizes and division two winning tickets before, but we were certainly due for another.
“We hope this is the start of a winning streak and we deliver more wins to our customers!”
In 2018, there were 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
