A Western Eyre Peninsula woman’s workday has been flipped upside down after discovering a ticket she purchased in support of Love Your Sister led her to a $250,000 Play For Purpose prize.

The First Prize Pack from Play For Purpose Raffle 21, drawn Friday 15 December 2023, includes an Audi Q5 Sportback S Line valued at over $118,000 plus $131,000 in cashable gold bullion.

The South Australian resident and long-time Love Your Sister supporter shared she held a special connection to the charity as she and her daughter had both been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Oh wow! Thank you!” the winning woman cheered when an official from Play For Purpose revealed her win.

“This is just so exciting. You’ve just completely made my workday.

“This is fantastic. My colleague is looking at me mouthing ‘what’s going on?’.

“I love Love Your Sister! Both my daughter and I have had breast cancer. We’re both cancer survivors so it’s a very close-to-heart cause.

“I’ve been clear for 15 years. My daughter has just been diagnosed for a second time and she’s about to be treated for that.

“When Sam Johnson did his bit for his sister, I supported it from the word go.

“I’ve bought his merchandise and I love to see his photos in the giraffe suit.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to Love Your Sister for all the continued support they’ve given to everybody!

“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

“I’m not sure what I’ll do with the prize yet. I’d love to go on a holiday.

The winner purchased their entry at playforpurpose.com.au.

Love Your Sister Founder Sam Johnson shouted, “YOU LITTLE RIPPER!” when he was told that one of their Villagers had won the major prize in the latest Play For Purpose raffle.

“The Play For Purpose raffle has been a little ray of light for us – being able to help people dream of winning a great prize has been important.

“We are so thrilled for the winner, especially because her family has been so affected by cancer. I'm told she's now planning a holiday for NINE family members!”

Other major prize winners were from across Australia, including Aintree in Victoria, Kangaroo Point in Queensland, Westmead in New South Wales and Manly in Queensland, who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of Western Health Foundation, Children’s Hospital Foundation and Rural Aid.

The next Play For Purpose raffle is open at playforpurpose.com.au.

About Play For Purpose

Play For Purpose is a not-for-profit raffle that helps to raise funds for charities and grassroot sports programs in Aussie communities.

Play For Purpose helps Aussie lottery players support causes close to their hearts, while also giving them the chance to win hundreds of prizes, including a $250,000 First Prize Pack.

Since 2018, Play For Purpose has announced more than 51,000 winners and raised over $8.6 million for charitable causes.

Tickets into a Play For Purpose raffle are $10, with $5 from every ticket sold going directly to a charity or sports program of the player’s choosing, with the remaining $5 used to fund prizes and administration costs.

Play For Purpose is conducted by the 50-50 Foundation and made possible by The Lott, the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

As part of its support of community organisations, The Lott provides resources and financial support to every Play For Purpose raffle. This support reduces raffle administration costs which means more money from every ticket you buy goes to a good cause.

The 50-50 Foundation is an ACNC-registered charity that has operated more than 1,000 charity raffles and raised funds for more than 500 charities and sports foundations since 2012.
