An Armidale couple have been happily surprised by the revelation the first ever Instant Scratch-Its ticket they bought won them one of the top prizes of $10,000.
The top prize winning $1 Ladybird Luck Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at JJ’s Newsagency Plus, Shop 21, Armidale Plaza, 195-197 Beardy Street, Armidale.
Sharing their joy with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the happy couple explained how shocked they were to discover their good fortune.
“This was the first ticket we have ever bought,” the winning woman explained.
“We’ve been through a bit of a rough time lately, so we just thought we’d try our luck and then we saw we actually won.
“We were very shocked. I really couldn’t believe we won.
“It felt like it was meant to be.”
The wife said the couple were excited to use their prize to go on a much-needed family holiday.
“We will pay off some of our bills and then we’d like to go on a holiday,” she shared.
“The prize will take a big load off our shoulders.”
JJ’s Newsagency Plus owner Jess Fischer said she was thrilled to have sold a winning major prize.
“I was very excited when I heard,” she said.
“The win couldn’t have gone to a more deserving couple.
“We are thrilled for them and wish them all the best.
“This is the first major prize we have sold since we took over the outlet earlier this year.
“Fingers crossed we sell some more major prize winning tickets soon.”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
