A Grovedale woman is celebrating in style, crediting her $100,000 top prize Instant Scratch-Its win to her faithful five-cent coin.

The victorious Victorian’s winning Instant Scratch-Its $5 Safari Sunset Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Grovedale Newsagency Lotto & Post, Shop 4, 79 Heyers Road, Grovedale.

The thrilled winner was still beaming with excitement when an official from The Lott called to confirm the news.

“I’m good! Very good!” she laughed.

“It’s unbelievable. I’m still in total shock.

“I bought the ticket over a week ago, but it sat on my kitchen table unscratched for days because I couldn’t find my lucky five-cent piece.

“When I finally found it, I scratched the ticket, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought straight away, ‘I was right about my coin!’.

“I was double-checking and triple-checking. Then I rang my sister, and she didn’t believe it either. I had to send her a photo.”

When asked how she planned to use her newfound treasure, the gleeful woman had a few ideas in mind.

“I’d like to invest some of it,” she said.

“I was even thinking I could pay a whole year’s worth of rent, then I wouldn’t have to think about it.

“I’m also in need of a new phone, so it’s come at a perfect time.

“Thank you so much!”

Grovedale Newsagency Lotto & Post team member Josephine McCann said she was overjoyed to hear the outlet had sold a top-prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“We always say that it is such a thrill to be able to deliver such life-changing and positive news. The feeling is contagious, and everyone chats about it for days,” she said.

“Our team member Sam was fortunate enough to be able to deliver the wonderful news to our customer who was shaking with happiness and unbelievably excited.

“Our customers love sharing in our news and equally are happy that someone in the local community won. It’s always well received.

“We are so happy for the winner. It will make a difference to her, and her family, and that's what counts.”
