A bunch of five Shepparton workmates have celebrated with a cup of coffee after discovering their private syndicate scored a division one prize worth over $1 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The professional workers held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 3971, drawn Saturday 10 August 2019. Each winner takes home a division one prize of $1,017,643.37.

Sharing his joy with a Tatts official this afternoon, the syndicate leader recounted how the group discovered the life-changing news.

“There are five of us from work who throw $10 into a bank account every fortnight which we use to buy our entries every fortnight,” he explained.

“We’ve been playing the same syndicate for about three years but we’ve never won anything like this!

“One of the girls in the syndicate checked the ticket on Saturday night and then called everyone to let us know.

“We were pretty excited and had to get together yesterday for a coffee to celebrate the news!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his share of the syndicate win, the happy winner revealed he had not had a chance to fully contemplate the prize.

“I’m not sure, I think everyone is just letting the news sink in and waiting for it to land in the bank account,” he explained.

“I do know one thing! It certainly won’t go to waste! I’ll probably use it to pay off a few bills and then go from there!”

The winning syndicate, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their entry from Shepparton Plaza Lotto, Shop 1, 310 High Street, Shepparton.

Shepparton Plaza Lotto owner Cathy Connor said she was thrilled her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

“We are all so very excited!” she exclaimed.

“This is our seventh division one winning entry we’ve sold in the past eleven years. The last one was just before Christmas last year so it is great to have sold another one so soon.

“It’s fantastic to hear the win has been shared amongst five regular players and locals to the area.

“Congratulations to our winners! We hope they each enjoy their prize!’
