A Bateau Bay woman is attributing her life-changing $1.3 million Saturday Lotto win to her friend’s birthday as she only bought the winning ticket because she was shopping for a birthday card.
The Central Coast player held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4259, drawn Saturday 14 May 2022. Each entry takes home $1.3 million.
An official from The Lott spoke to the winner shortly after she discovered the exciting news this afternoon.
“I’m just at the newsagency now. Oh my god! I can’t believe this,” she cried happily.
“I saw on Facebook that the newsagency had sold a division one winning ticket, and they were looking for the winner.
“I remembered I’d bought a Saturday Lotto ticket from there, but I never thought I’d be the winner. But I decided to check it anyway.
“I couldn’t believe it when they said I was the winner. It’s life-changing. I can’t thank you all enough!
“We’ve honestly had a horrendous time lately, so I hope this is a sign of good things to come.
“It feels like this win was almost meant to be. I was just out at the shops getting a card for my friend’s birthday when I bought this ticket.
“If I wasn’t buying the card, I wouldn’t have purchased the Saturday Lotto ticket. It’s crazy!
“I’m certainly going to do a lot of thinking before I start enjoying the prize.
“My husband will retire, and I’d love to treat myself a bit.
“It’s come at the perfect time. This win means we can completely rewrite our retirement plans, which is amazing.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Nextra Bateau Bay, Shop 53-59 Bateau Bay Square 12 Bay Vi, Bateau Bay.
Nextra Bateau Bay team member Tim Stevenson said the entire outlet was celebrating alongside the winner.
“It’s fantastic!” Tim said.
“We’ve been sharing the news with all our customers. They're thrilled to hear the winning news as it gives them hope they could be next to win big.
“Our last division one winning ticket we’d sold was in the $20 Million Superdraw on 31st October 2020.
“This is our second division one win for the store in 18 months, so we’re excited.
“We’d love to send a massive congratulations to our winner. We hope their prize can go towards something they’ve always dreamed of.
“Selling a division one winning entry boosts the excitement in store. Hopefully, we have another big win soon!”
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4259 on 14 May 2022 were 20, 27, 35, 39, 25 and 15, while the supplementary numbers were 9 and 21.
