A Youngtown hospitality worker has gone from clearing tables to clearing $100,000 after a free Instant Scratch-Its ticket scored her a top-prize.
The Tasmanian mum’s winning $5 Flamingo Bingo X2 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was from Kings Meadows News & Lotto, 116 Hobart Road, Kings Meadows.
When speaking to an official from The Lott, the thrilled winner was still awestruck by her windfall.
“I couldn’t be better and now that it’s in my account, it’s really starting to sink in,” she laughed.
“I work in hospitality so it’s a huge help to my family.
“I’ll grab an Instant Scratch-Its ticket every now and then and if I win a small prize, I’ll usually just get another ticket.
“It’s so crazy, the ticket I scratched last week gave me a $5 free ticket and it was that ticket that won me the top prize!
“I was sitting on the lounge when I scratched it, and I just kept checking the ticket over. Then I walked out to my husband and said, ‘I think we just won $100,000!’. He said, ‘No way!’.
“It wasn’t until I was filling out the prize claim that he started to actually believe me.
“These things don’t happen to me so it’s very surreal!
“There are some things I’d love to do, so I’ll have a good think and be wise to set things up.
“Thank you so much! It couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Kings Meadows News & Lotto owner Sourav Kumar said he was over the moon to hear a customer struck gold at his outlet.
“I was absolutely floored when I got the news! I can’t stop smiling knowing that a simple ticket from our counter has helped change someone’s life,” he said.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be the lucky shop that helped make such a massive win come true for one of our customers.
“I’ll be proudly displaying the news right near the register as a reminder that dreams really do come true right here in our store!
“A massive congratulations to our winner. We are so happy for you and hope this prize brings you and your family a lifetime of joy.”
