A Gisborne man in his 30s admitted he couldn’t help but scream “like a 10-year-old girl” when he checked his Oz Lotto ticket  on his way to work this morning and discovered he had won $7.5 million.

The Macedon Ranges man held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1396 on Tuesday 17 November 2020. Each division one winning entry is worth $7.5 million.

Confirming his prize with an official from The Lott this morning, the winner recounted how he discovered he was now a multi-millionaire.

“I’ve never had a better morning!” he declared.

“I was driving down the road for work and I pulled in to get some fuel. But before I did that, I thought I’d just check my ticket.

“The old lady beside me at the bowser thought I was having a fit when I screamed like a 10-year-old girl. It’s unbelievable!

“I haven’t played for months, but last night I was sitting there and thought ‘bugger it, I’ll get a ticket’.

“Multi-millionaire! That sounds nice! I hope I don’t have a heart attack before I get home.”

The small business owner said the win was a “huge relief” after doing it tough in recent months.

“I work for myself. It’s been a hard slog lately. With lockdown, my business just dried up, and I’ve been trying to get back on my feet,” he said.

“I don’t plan on being one of those people who blow it all in a month.

“I can go look for a house now. I’m not a fancy kind of guy, so $7.5 million should cover it!

“I might just put $6 million in the bank and live off the interest.  Just sit back and enjoy life a bit.

“I’ve also got a few people I’ll look after too.”

The thrilled player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 50-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1397 on Tuesday 17 November  2020 were 25, 10, 39, 33, 2, 27 and 31. The supplementary numbers were 20 and 37.
