A Gladstone fisherman has admitted it’s “strange” to contemplate all the things he’s going to do with $1 million after winning division one in last night’s Gold Lotto draw.
The Queensland player held one of the two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4041, drawn Wednesday 6 January 2021. Each division one entry won $1 million.
This morning, an official from The Lott called the winner, who could barely utter a word when he heard he’d become an overnight millionaire.
“Are you serious?” he questioned.
“Holy sh*t! Holy sh*t! I am shocked. Oh my god! I am not sure what to think right now.
“It’s insane!
“Oh god, I don’t even know what’s going on right now.
“I am quite overwhelmed.
“I am a millionaire, isn’t that a strange thought?”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, Central Queensland’s newest millionaire had no hesitation.
“I am going to get a new boat,” he explained.
“There will be a few fishing trips too! I love fishing!
“I might retire earlier than I ever thought too.
“I am not too sure yet though. I never thought I would be contemplating what to do with $1 million!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his marked 15-game entry at Nextra Valley News, Shop 15, Centro Valley Shopping Centre, Goondoon Street, Gladstone.
Nextra Valley News owner Rosalie Mcpherson said she was thrilled for her million-dollar winner.
“Isn’t that wonderful!” she said.
“I am so, so happy.
“It’s just the best news I could’ve heard this morning.
“There must be a rainbow shining over Gladstone!
“I was only just saying that we’d be the next outlet to sell a division one winning entry in Gladstone and turns out, we did!
“The entire team are extremely happy for him and hope the win makes a big difference to his life.
“What better way to start 2021 than as a millionaire! It’s incredible.
“Hopefully we have some more division one wins soon.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4041 on Wednesday 6 January 2021 were 35, 29, 31, 26, 19 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 6.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4041 – two from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 229 so far this financial year, including 52 won by Golden Casket customers.
In 2020, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto created 93 millionaires across Australia.
