A Glengowrie man believes he willed his Keno Spot 8 win of $50,000 into reality by starting to plan how he would spend his windfall before he’d even bought his ticket.

The South Australian scored a Keno Spot 8 prize of $50,000 in Keno draw 419, drawn Friday 5 March 2021.

Sharing his story with an official from The Lott today, the winner revealed how he came to hold the winning ticket.

“I was just out fishing and thinking about what I would spend my windfall on if I won Keno,” he explained.

“I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I might win something, so I stopped on my way home and picked up a ticket.

“I can’t believe I actually won. It was like my thoughts went out to the universe and it answered.

“It was meant to be. It was supposed to happen this way.

“I have been playing the same numbers for years. I chose them a long time ago using my favourite and special numbers, but I can’t remember why they were special at the time.

“You could say I know why they were special now!”

When asked how he would enjoy his Keno windfall, the stoked bloke confessed he’d already planned how he would use it before he’d even bought his ticket.

“I’m going to use it to renovate my house!” he declared.

“I told myself when I bought the ticket if I won, I’d put it towards a new bathroom, so that’s exactly what I am going to do.

“I also want to put some of it towards the mortgage and save some to take a holiday somewhere when the borders are open.

“It’s unbelievable how it has happened. I still can’t get over it!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Morphett Arms Hotel, 138 Morphett Road, Glengowrie.

Morphett Arms Hotel gaming manager Wendy Pascoe said she was thrilled a local customer had scored a major Keno Prize.

“We’ve sold a few major prizes in the past but the last was about 18 months ago so we’re happy to have had another win!” she exclaimed.

“Congratulations to our winner. We wish him all the best with his prize!”

In 2020, there were 37 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $5.81 million.

The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February, while a win with more than $2.4 million was won by Taperoo man in November.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
