Christmas has come early for a Glenroy mother and her adult son who admitted they “ran down the street and jumped for joy” when they discovered their $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its windfall.
The top prize winning $1 Christmas Gift ticket was purchased at Glenroy Newsagency, 773 Pascoe Vale Road, Glenroy.
Confirming her windfall with an official from The Lott this morning, the winning Melbourne mum said she was still on cloud nine.
“When we discovered the win, we ran down the road because we were so happy,” she laughed.
“Our family love scratching Instant Scratch-Its tickets. We love to see who wins the most.
“Initially, I thought the winning ticket was a dud and some sort of joke. I couldn’t believe it!
“It’s truly wonderful.
“We’re still doing our Christmas shopping, so we can really spoil our family,” she revealed.
“We might open a bottle of champagne to share with everyone and celebrate.
“This has really come in time for Christmas.”
Glenroy Newsagency owner John Rutledge said it was the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket the outlet had sold.
“We’ve owned the store for 15 years, so it feels fantastic to have sold a top prize!” he said.
“The winner was beside herself when she discovered the windfall, and we’re so happy for her.
“On behalf of everyone at Glenroy Newsagency, we wish the winner all the best and congratulations to them.”
In FY21, there were 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
