A Golden Beach man picking up a loaf of bread and his local newspaper this morning has received the surprise of a lifetime after bagging a million-dollar win in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The Sunshine Coast resident held one of the three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4170, drawn Monday 5 April 2022 and takes home $1,028,099.50.
Sharing his euphoria with an official from The Lott this morning, the Queenslander was still in a state of shock after discovering his newfound wealth.
“Jesus, I’m shaking!” he laughed.
“I can’t believe it. I went to grab a loaf of bread and a newspaper at the local corner store, and I decided to check my entry from last night.
“The team member at the newsagency said I’d won something, but he couldn’t tell me how much I’d won.
“I need to sit down; I’m going to fall over. F****** hell! I absolutely love you for telling me this news.
“I was passing through Beaudesert recently, and I decided to pick up an entry into the draw – I’m so glad I did!
“It’s been so challenging for the family recently. Oh, tenfold, you have no idea how much this will help us.
“I’ll have to tell my wife straight after our phone call, she won’t believe me.
“I might even retire today; I think this is the perfect time!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his good fortune, he said he couldn’t wait to help out his parents and sell his house.
“We’ve been wanting to sell our house and move closer to our parents for a while now,” he shared.
“Our parents have been struggling in recent times, and now I know I can help them.
“We will definitely celebrate with some beers tonight!”
His winning marked System 8 entry was purchased at Cignall Beaudesert, Shop 2, Beaudesert Central, 141 Brisbane Street, Beaudesert.
Cignall Beaudsert owner Hardik Makadia said the division one winning entry is the first their outlet has ever sold.
“This is so wonderful for the winner and our outlet. We’ve been so excited since finding out we’ve helped transform someone’s life,” he said.
“We live in a small, tight-knit community, so it’s amazing to know a visitor has won big. We hope this is the start to many more wins in Scenic Rim!

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4170 on 4 April 2022 were 1, 14, 32, 20, 9 and 12, while the supplementary numbers were 34 and 21.
Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4170 – two from Queensland and one from Western Australia.
