A Western Australian man holidaying in Cairns is heading home with more than he bargained for after winning $1 million in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.
The North Queensland tourist held one of two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4185 on Wednesday 25 May 2022 and takes home $1 million.
The winning man spoke with an official from The Lott not long after realising his win and said it was the most amazing discovery he’d ever made.
“Far out, I can’t believe this!” he proclaimed.
“I’m over here catching up with friends while on holiday in Cairns and thought I’d buy a ticket in the draw, but I never expected I’d ever win.
“It still hasn’t sunk in and I’m not sure if it ever will.
“I’ll sit down and process it, try and figure out what to do with it all and go from there.
“I know that I’ll be sharing it with my family though.
“What an amazing holiday it has been! Thank you so much.”
The division one winning entry was purchased at TSG DFO Cairns, Shop 305, DFO Cairns, 274 Mulgrave Road, Cairns.
TSG DFO Cairns manager Kelly Moran said the store was buzzing this morning with the news they’d sold a division one winning entry and was elated to have changed someone’s life.
“We’re all so excited, it’s our first division one winner ever and all we want to do is celebrate!” she laughed.
“I’m organising balloons and streamers, everything you’d expect to see at a victory parade.
“It’s going to provide a huge boost to the centre and to our store. We can’t believe that we’ve been able to help change someone’s life forever.
“I’d like to wish the winner all the best for their future and hope they do something incredible with their winnings.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4185 on Wednesday 25 May 2022 were 32, 16, 1, 28, 37, 24, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 35.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4185 – One each in Queensland and New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 179 so far this calendar year, including 42 won by Golden Casket customers.
