A Horsham couple can’t wait to retire from work, buy their dream home right by the ocean and embrace the “beach bum” life after discovering they won $1 million in last night’s Wednesday Lotto draw.
The Victorians held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4111 on Wednesday 8 September 2021. Each division one winning entry scored $1 million.
Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the happy pair admitted they were struggling to comprehend the million-dollar news.
“We are so nervous. We have been waiting for your call,” the winning woman explained.
“We’re so doubtful! This kind of thing doesn’t happen to people like us. Are you sure?
“This morning, I got out of bed and checked my ticket straight away. I was half asleep, so I couldn’t see the screen properly, but then I noticed all six numbers were lit up.
“I went and got my husband to check, and he said, ‘no way! That can’t be right!’.
“It’s a shot in the arm! We couldn’t think of a better time to win.
“We’ve decided we’re going to work today, but I think we might start a little later so we can sit back and let this news sink in.
“Thank you so much! What a feeling!
“This is unbelievable. It’s life-changing for us.”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their million-dollar prize, the overjoyed duo admitted they had one thing in mind.
“We are both going to retire from work. We’ve been dreaming about this moment,” the winning man added.
“Then we are going to move and buy a place right on the beach. We want to be beach bums! We’ve already been house shopping online this morning and have picked out a few we’d like to look at.
“We’ve won at the best time because this means we can really enjoy life and have a fantastic retirement.”
Their winning marked 16-game entry was purchased online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4111 on Wednesday 8 September 2021 were 6, 26, 38, 5, 40 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 13 and 16.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4111 – one each from Victoria and New South Wales.
