A Logan man is planning to break the news to his family that he won more than $17 million in last night’s Powerball draw by pulling into his driveway in a flash new car.

The Queensland man held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Powerball draw 1254, drawn Thursday 28 May 2020, scoring the division one prize of $17,361,060.30.

This morning, an official from the Lott called the winning man, who was completely oblivious he’d become an overnight multi-millionaire.

“Gosh, sorry, I am only just getting out of bed. I am still half asleep! I have been a bit lazy today,” he explained.

“Wow! You are not pranking me, are you? I have a lot of friends that prank me!

“Oh my god! You can’t imagine how much this means to me.

“I think I am going to pass out! This completley changes everything for me.

“I almost didn’t buy a ticket, but then I thought ‘why not?’! What a good decision.

“I don’t think I will sleep for six weeks after this phone call!

“This is life-changing for my family. Thank you so much.

“I am not going to tell my family. I am just going to rock up to the house with some fancy purchase, maybe a new car, and see if they can guess we are now multi-millionaires!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his multi-million-dollar prize, the overjoyed man said he already had a long list.

“I am definitely going to retire from work. I want to buy a house too and a new car,” he said.

“I will share it with my kids and a few friends.

“I want to see the world! I have barely been anywhere.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 8-game QuickPick entry at IGA Meadowbrook, Shop 9, 2 Yeates Crescent, Meadowbrook.

IGA Meadowbrook owner Sam Rizk said he was celebrating making one of his customers a multi-millionaire.

“What incredible news!” he said.

“We wish our winner all the very best and hope he enjoys living life as a multi-millionaire.

“Hopefully, we have some more major prize wins soon!”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1254 on Thursday 28 May 2020 were 24, 30, 25, 10, 9, 21 and 32. The all-important Powerball number was 19.

Across Australia, there was only one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1254 – the entry from Queensland.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 147 so far this year, including 45 won by Golden Casket customers.

In 2019, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $541.87 million in prize money.

During this time, the biggest individual Powerball prize was $107,575,649.08, which was won by a Sydney healthcare worker on 17 January 2019. Her windfall set a new record for Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner.  In 2019, Powerball offered a $150 million jackpot, the largest ever offered by an Australian lottery game, which was shared by three division one winners.

Of the 14 Powerball division one winning entries in 2019, five landed in New South Wales, four in Queensland, three in Victoria and two in South Australia.
