A Cabramatta woman says she’s received the best birthday present of her life after a long-held tradition with her friend led to a $25,000 Instant Scratch-Its win.
The western Sydney woman’s top prize winning $2 Hole in Won ticket was purchased at Newsnew Newsagency, Shop 3067, Westfield Shoppingtown, Bondi Junction.
Confirming her win with an official from the Lott this morning, the overwhelmed player explained how her prize came to be.
“Every year my friend gives me scratchies for my birthday. She’s been doing it for about four years now. We love giving them to each other as a little birthday tradition,” she explained.
“I couldn’t believe it when I scratched it! It was unbelievable.
“It’s the best and most unforgettable birthday present I have ever received.
“It was honestly amazing. I was shaking.
“I never imagined I would win. A prize like this is massive for me!”
When asked how she might enjoy her instant windfall, the woman explained she couldn’t not share it with her friend.
“Well, I am certainly sharing some with my lovely friend who gifted me the ticket,” she declared.
“I’m going to pay a few bills and invest the rest. It will be fantastic for my future!”
Newsnew Newsagency manager Sam Xia said it was the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket the outlet had sold.

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
