A young man from Merrimac will be quietly beaming at work today after discovering he won division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw – something he said he’s waited all his life for.
The man in his 30s held one of the nine division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3865 on 4 August 2018. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $444,985.88.
The win kicks off a record-breaking week in Australian lottery with two jackpots worth a collective $150 million up for grabs in the coming days. Tomorrow’s Oz Lotto has a massive $70 million up for grabs, while Thursday’s Powerball is offering a mind-blowing $80 million.
When speaking with a Golden Casket official this morning, the man was already hard at work, but revelling in his division one win.
“Wow! It still doesn’t feel real. It hasn’t sunk in yet,” he exclaimed.
“It’s my little ritual every Saturday to head up to the shop and get my ticket. Every Sunday morning about 9am I scan my ticket and complain I haven’t won. I didn’t complain this Sunday!
“I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve waited all my life for this!”
With a Gold Lotto windfall about to drop into his bank account, the Gold Coast resident shared a few of his plans.
“It’ll pay off the mortgage and give us a little bit of money in the bank. We’ll be comfortable for the rest of our lives,” he said.
“It’s come at a really good time in our lives.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Nextra Nerang Mall, Shop G17, Nerang Mall, Gilston Street, Nerang.
Nextra Nerang Mall owner Porsche Cheung said celebrations were in full swing at his outlet.
“We’re still buzzing from the news yesterday!” he said.
“We’ve been flat out as the news has spread that we’ve sold another division one.
“The outlet last sold one in 2014 so it’s great to have another one.”
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 113 millionaires across Australia.
The six winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3865 on Saturday 4 August 2018 were 25, 38, 24, 35, 12 and 14. The supplementary numbers were 36 and 39.
Across Australia there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3865 – five from Victoria, two from Queensland, and one each from New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 240 so far this calendar year, including 57 won by Golden Casket customers.
Last financial year, there were 290 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $341.27 million.
