A benevolent Bundaberg man has revealed he believes in karma after scratching one of the top prizes of $500,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The top prize winning $20 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Hinkler Lucky Lotto, Shop 44, Hinkler Central Shopping Centre, 16 Maryborough Street, Bundaberg.

Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott, the delighted winner revealed he believed the win was a reward for his good deeds.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet! It’s such a great amount to win!” he declared.

“I play Instant Scratch-Its pretty regularly, and my wife is always telling me off, telling me I won’t win.

“She’s definitely changed her tune now! She’s over the moon!

“We’ve always believed in karma, and that good things happen to people who do good things. So we’ve always tried to give back and help where we can.

“Karma is a good thing. This is definitely a reward for all that we do!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his half-a-million-dollar windfall, the humble bloke revealed he couldn’t wait to help his family.

“We don’t really need anything for ourselves. We’ll pay off the mortgage, and it will be great to be able to say we finally own the place,” he said.

“I’ll probably put it towards upgrading a few things around the property, but mostly I want to share it with my two kids.

“It will be great to be able to give them a kick along in life.

“We don’t really need anything else. We’ve got a house, two good cars and our family. We just want to help them out.”

Hinkler Lucky Lotto owner Peter Marschall said he was thrilled a regular customer had scored such a great prize.

“It’s really good when you sell a winning ticket but even better when it’s a regular customer and local to the area!” he exclaimed.

“We’ve sold a few big prizes over the years but nothing as big as this. This would have to be our biggest prize by far!

“We are so happy for our customer! We wish him all the best with the win!”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
