Forget a new wallet or an expensive watch, a young Kellyville man has declared his latest birthday present is ‘unforgettable’ - one of the top prizes of $100,000 on a $5 Casino Riches Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The thrilled winner explained he received the winning ticket as a birthday gift from his beloved girlfriend.

“We were actually away for the weekend to celebrate my birthday and I was opening one of my gifts,” he explained.

“We always give each other a few scratchies for each other’s birthday. There are always a couple in the card.

“I was shocked! At first I didn’t believe it! You always think to yourself ‘oh yeah, it would be nice if I win.’.

“Then I realised I had matched the two numbers I needed. I double checked and started getting excited and started shaking.

“I gave it to my girlfriend to check and she said ‘I think you’ve got it!’.

“We were pretty excited as you could imagine! It’s a birthday I won’t forget for a while that’s for sure!”

When asked how he planned to spend his instant windfall, the young winner revealed he was looking to the future.

“I’ll just save it up. Definitely save it up for a house and for the future,” he said.

“I would love to spend it but it’s not the wisest thing to do. I might buy some clothes or something – we’ll see! It’s good to know it is there for the future!”

The stoked bloke also revealed his winning ticket nearly never made it into his birthday card.

“My girlfriend admitted she actually had thrown the ticket in the bin!” he laughed.

“They were in the bottom of her grocery bag which she threw away and it wasn’t until later she realised they were still there so she went and grabbed them out of the bin.

“I guess I would have never known it was a winner but I’m relieved she remembered them!”

The winning entry was purchased at Kellyville Plaza Newsagency, Shop 21 90 Wrights Road, Kellyville.

Kellyville Plaza Newsagency manager Kerry Henretty said she was thrilled to have sold another major prize.

“Wow! That’s just wonderful!” she exclaimed.

“How beautiful for the winners! How lovely it was a birthday present.

“We actually sold a Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize a few weeks ago, so we are on a bit of a winning streak!

“Hopefully we sell another major prize soon!”

Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.

The latest range of Instant Scratch-Its tickets are available now at NSW Lotteries outlets.
