A Kings Meadows woman revealed she is still recovering from the shock of scratching one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1 Happy Camper Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The winning entry was purchased at Kings Meadows News & Lotto, 116 Hobart Road, Kings Meadows.

Sharing her joy with a Golden Casket official this afternoon, the loving mum recounted how she came to hold the winning ticket.

“I don’t really buy scratchies that often because I usually spend my money on my kids,” she explained.

“My partner bought me a few scratchies for a treat and I couldn’t believe it when I saw that I had won.

“We were all so shocked! We kept checking it see if it was real.

“The most we’ve ever won is $1 or $2 so this is unbelievable.”

The happy woman confessed she sat on the news for a couple of days before deciding how to enjoy her instant windfall.

“Even though we scratched it a few days ago we wanted to sit on it and wait until we had decided how to spend it before we claimed it,” she explained.

“We talked it through and decided we wanted to put it straight into the bank to boost our savings towards a deposit on a house.

“We want to set our kids up for the future and the best way to do that is to get a nice house for them to grow up in.”

Kings Meadows News & Lotto team member Jan Boatwright said she was thrilled to hear one of her customers had won a major prize.

“It’s so wonderful! What fantastic news! We are thrilled!” she exclaimed.

“It’s fantastic to hear it has gone to a winner who is going to do something really good with their windfall. “We’ve sold a few other major prizes in the past but this is the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket we’ve sold so we are really happy.

“We hope the winner enjoys their prize!”

Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.

During this same time, 4,182,602 winners pocketed more than $214.2 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
