A Marden man has had the ultimate interruption while getting ready for work this morning - discovering he won a $150,000 Keno Spot 9 prize.

The stoked bloke scored the $150,000 Keno Spot 9 prize in draw 211020226, drawn Wednesday 20 October 2021.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the Adelaide man said the win had sparked some controversy.

“I found out this morning as we were getting ready for work. My wife was in the shower, so I got up to make a coffee, put the dog out and then check my Keno ticket,” he revealed.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the win. I freaked out! I screamed! I was very excited.

“When I told my wife, I thought she was about to pass out. She looked so shocked.

“Our neighbours probably thought something was wrong from all of the commotion.

“My mind is still spinning now. It’s crazy!

“I’ve gone to work today, but it’s certainly made the day a lot more enjoyable.

“It’s beautiful, and it’s such a nice time to win with Christmas coming up.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the South Australian man explained it would make things easier.

“We haven’t really thought about what we will do with it because we only found out this morning, so the news is still sinking in,” he shared.

“We will certainly spoil ourselves a bit and save some of it for our future retirement.

“Tonight, we will have a few drinks and dinner to celebrate. I’m sure we will make some plans for how to spend the money then.”

The winning entry was purchased at Metro Newsagency Marden, Shop 10, Marden Shopping Centre, 1 Lower Portrush Road, Marden.

Metro Newsagency Marden owner Pinkesh Patel said he was celebrating the major Keno win.

“How exciting! We were so happy when we found out,” he said.

“We would love to send our congratulations to our winner. We wish him all the best.

“Good luck to our customers, we hope you have a win next!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, there were more than 5 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $133.2 million. This included 37 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners who scored more than $6.37 million.

The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.3 million was won by a Croydon Park man in February 2021, while a win with more than $2.4 million was won by Taperoo man in November 2020.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
