A Marrickville woman out shopping yesterday got the surprise of a lifetime when she scratched a $25,000 top prize on her Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $2 Paws of Cash ticket was sold at Marrickville Metro Newsagency, Shop 26-27 Metro Shopping Centre, 34 Victoria Road, Marrickville.
Confirming her win with an official from The Lott this morning, the blissful winner said she was on cloud nine after her discovery.
“I’m shocked! I’ve been purchasing Instant Scratch-Its tickets for more than 40 years!” she laughed.
“As per usual, I went shopping, grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down to scratch the Instant Scratch-Its ticket with five of my friends.
“When I saw I’d won $25,000, I was taken back. I couldn’t believe the win.
“Now and then, I purchase around $25 worth of Instant Scratch-Its tickets.
“The largest I’ve won on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket is $500! I’ve won $50, $100, and $200 as well.
“To win $25,000 is amazing! I’m so happy.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the triumphant winner said she already knew exactly what she was going to do.
“I’ve had a leaking roof for a while now. It’s going to cost me $10,000. This is a significant help!” she shared.
“I’ll also be celebrating a religious holiday tomorrow, and this has come just in time for celebrations.”
In FY21, there were 176 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.17 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 31.2 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $274.31 million. This equates to more than $750,000 won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
