A west Melbourne man got more than a full tank of petrol after scoring one of the top prizes on a $10 Jumbo Crossword he picked up while at Euro Garages Melbourne North.
Sharing his excitement with an Instant Scratch-Its official today, the regular player admitted he had no idea how much he won until he claimed his prize.
“Whenever I fill up with petrol I usually grab a Crosswords ticket so I scratch one about once a week,” he explained.
“When I scratched the ticket I saw that I’d scratched off quite a few words but I wasn’t sure if I had counted them all correctly.
“I was hoping I had won the top prize of $150,000 but didn’t want to get too excited incase I’d only won $15.
“I’m very happy that when I claimed my prize they told me I had won $150,000!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the thrilled winner declared it would go a long way towards a house deposit.
“I’ll put most of it towards saving for a house,” he declared.
“Then I’ll start planning a holiday to Greece. I want to go in summer so might have to wait until next year but I’ll definitely be going to Europe at some point!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Euro Garages Melbourne North, Corner Arden St and Druburgh Street, North Melbourne.
Euro Garages Melbourne North manager Aswani Duggirala said he was thrilled his outlet had sold a major prize.
“It’s so cool!” he exclaimed.
“Whenever our customers buy an Instant Scratch-Its ticket from us they always ask when we are going to sell a winner.
