A man from the northern suburbs of Melbourne has confessed he’s feeling ‘pretty excited’ after becoming an overnight millionaire.

The thrilled man held one of the three division one winning entries across Australia in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3893, drawn Wednesday 7 August 2019. Each division one winning entry takes home the guaranteed prize of $1 million.

Sharing his joy with a Tatts official this afternoon, the regular player recounted how he discovered the life-changing news.

“I’m having a very good day today!” he laughed.

“I thought I’d check my ticket so I went online and checked the numbers.

“When I saw them, I noticed they were the ones I used to mark my entry so I thought I may have won something.

“I double checked my ticket number and that’s when I realised I had won $1 million!”

The happy winner also revealed the unusual way in which he chose his marked numbers.

“I had a look at the numbers that were drawn more frequently than others and chose a few of those,” he explained.

“Then I looked at the numbers that were drawn less frequently and put a few of those in too.

“Then I marked numbers either side of the ones I had already chosen.

“Even though I used this system – the most important thing is I know I am just lucky!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his new millionaire status the stoked bloke confessed the windfall would not only put him on the property ladder, but potentially at the top of it.

“I’ve just been renting a flat so I’ll use it to upgrade to a house!” he declared.

“Most of it will go on a house but that will give me the freedom to live mortgage free and that’s the most important thing!”

The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Scole Lotto & News, Shop 6, Barkly Square, 90-106 Sydney Road, Brunswick.

Scole Lotto and News manager Olivia Misiano said she was stoked to have sold another division one winning entry.

“Selling a division one winning entry brings so much excitement to our team and our customers!” she exclaimed.

“We’ve displayed our win with balloons, streamers signs and banners. It’s created a bit of a frenzy amongst our customers.

“We’ve already received so many congratulations from the regulars who think we are a lucky shop.

“This is the second division one winning entry we’ve sold in the past 18 months with the last being a $55 million Powerball division one winning entry.

“Luck really does strike twice and hopefully we will be third time lucky in the near future!

“Congratulations to our winner! Happy spending!”
