A Merbein woman has explained how a weekly tradition led her to fill up with a $50,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize.

The top prize winning $4 Beach Ball Bingo ticket was purchased at Shell Merbein, 59 Commercial Street, Merbein.

Sharing her joy win with an official from The Lott this morning, the happy Victorian said she was still in disbelief over her windfall.

“Thank you so much,” she said.

“I still can’t believe it!

“It’s all part of my weekly tradition. I buy a couple of scratchies on a Monday when I fill up the car with petrol. I then take the tickets home and scratch them.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had won $50,000. I felt very very lucky!

“I think the news is still sinking in.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the Victorian said 2020 was finally looking up.

“It has come at such a good time after a very unstable six months,” she said.

“I’m going to use it to put a deposit down on a house.

“This is going to really help me get ahead.

“It’s amazing!”

Shell Merbein owner Mani Chukka said it was the first top prize winning ticket the outlet had sold.

“This marks a special milestone for us,” he said.

“We’re so happy for our winner. It was such a good moment.

“Congratulations to her!

“We certainly hope this is the beginning of many more wins for our customers.”

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
