A Maroubra player has had a midweek surprise they’ll never forget, checking their Monday Lotto ticket to realise they’re suddenly a millionaire.
The anonymous Sydney player held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4002, drawn Monday 24 August 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
However, how the newly minted millionaire plans to spend their windfall will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
The life-changing ticket was purchased at Pacific Square News, Shop 17, Pacific Square Shopping Centre, 707-747 Anzac Parade, Maroubra.
Pacific Square News owner David Zou said he was thrilled the winner had checked their ticket.
“How incredible,” he said.
“It’s such exciting news. We were so happy when we found out!
“How amazing to discover you’ve become a millionaire. We can only imagine how thrilled they are!
“Congratulations to them. We are so excited for them and wish them all the best.
“We can’t wait for some more major prize wins!”
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Lauren Cooney said while we might never know how the Maroubra player planned to spend their prize, she was sure discovering the news would be the best surprise.
“What an incredible way to start your day, discovering you are now a millionaire!” she exclaimed.
“Other winners tell us they love to share their windfall with their families, go on overseas holidays, pay off their mortgages or buy a new home.
“However our winner chooses to enjoy their windfall we are sure it has changed their lives forever!”
Last financial year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 86 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4002 on Monday 24 August 2020 were 32, 12, 42, 38, 14 and 5 while the supplementary numbers were 11 and 20.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4002 – two from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 258 so far this calendar year, including 65 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 101 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $98 million.
