It might be gloomy and rainy in Mildura today, but the day just got a whole lot brighter for someone in the region who scratched $25,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning $2 Happy Go Lucky ticket was purchased at Klemms Authorised Newsagency, 53 Langtree Mall, Mildura.
However, how the winner plans to enjoy their instant windfall will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
Klemms Authorised Newsagency manager Kerrie Stewart said the entire team was celebrating the huge win.
“I couldn’t believe it when the winner came in to check the ticket,” she said.
“We haven’t sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket in years, so it was a big moment for us.
“We were all so excited. I think we were even more excited than the winner! We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces – we still can’t.
“We’re so happy for the winner. What a great way to start the year! Hopefully, they can use it in some fun ways.
“Fingers crossed this is the start of a top prize winning streak!”
The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said she was sure the northwest Victorian was delighted by their instant win.
“What an excellent surprise for the winner!” she exclaimed.
“While we don’t know how our winner will enjoy their prize, we have no doubt they will be smiling from ear to ear knowing their bank balance is about to balloon by a few extra digits.
“Other winners have told us they use their windfall to upgrade their car, pay off their mortgage, or shout their family and friends to a great celebratory dinner.
“No matter how they enjoy their prize, we are sure it is a boost to their day, week, month and year!”
In 2021, there were 157 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $10 million in top prizes.
