A Chatswood woman says she’s ‘shell shocked’ after discovering she spent the last month completely unaware of her millionaire status.

Until yesterday, the woman was oblivious to the fact she held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3829, drawn Wednesday 26 December 2018, winning the guaranteed division one prize of $1,000,000.

Confirming her win with a NSW Lotteries official today, the Sydney player explained how she only just realised her $1 million Boxing Day good fortune.

“I only check my tickets once a month and yesterday I went to the newsagency and they scanned my Wednesday Lotto entry. It came up that I had won something but they told me I needed to call head office,” she explained.

“So I raced home and checked the results of the draw online.

“As I matched up my numbers I really couldn’t believe that I’d won!

“I still feel shell shocked.

“I’ve been shaking ever since.”

The excited winner revealed she had been playing Monday & Wednesday Lotto regularly for years.

“I always mark a four game entry, using the same numbers every time. The numbers are birthdays of my family members,” she shared. “I’m from the United Kingdom originally and these the same numbers I used to play in the UK.

When asked how she planned to spend her unexpected windfall, the woman revealed the prize would go far.

“I couldn’t have asked for the prize to come at a better time,” she exclaimed.

“I’ve been thinking that I would love to be in a position to retire soon so this prize will definitely let me finish work earlier than I ever expected.

“I have some family and friends who I’d really love to help out at the moment.

“And I would love to treat myself to a trip overseas and then one around Australia.

“It would have been nice to know I won a little earlier but delayed gratification is just as good!”

The million-dollar four game marked entry was purchased from Westfield Chatswood Newsagency, Shop 229, Westfield Shopping Town, 1 Anderson Street, Chatswood.

Westfield Chatswood Newsagency employee Fazi Vahedi said she was relieved to know the winner had finally be united with her prize.

“We’ve been asking all our customers to check any old tickets, hoping we would find the division one winner,” she said.

“I’m so glad to hear this woman has finally checked her ticket. What a fantastic surprise!

“We wish her all the best.”
