A Mount Cotton dad has wasted no time shouting his family an unforgettable holiday after scratching one of the top prizes of $25,000 on a $2 Llama Loot Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mount Cotton Road News, 159 Mt Cotton Road, Capalaba.
Confirming his prize with a Golden Casket official this afternoon, the man recalled the moment he discovered his windfall.
“I regularly buy $1 or $2 scratchies,” he explained.
“And when I scratched this one I thought ‘Oh no it can’t be’ and then it was!
“I really couldn’t believe it to begin with!
“I told my wife and she didn’t believe me at all.
“It was such a lovely surprise!”
When asked how he’ll enjoy his instant windfall, the man had no hesitation in revealing his plan.
“We really wanted to take a family holiday this year and now we certainly will!” he exclaimed.
“We’ve got our family holiday completely paid for. I can’t wait.
“It’s absolutely amazing! This prize has come at the best time.
“It’s fantastic. We’re really going to enjoy our win.”
Mount Cotton Road News owner Megan Reilly said she was over-the-moon the moment she discovered she sold the top prize winning ticket.
“I had been joking with the customer saying he will be very happy if he won a top prize,” she explained.
“Then he came back into the store and said he had won the top prize!
“He was shaking and so was I. I think I was just as excited!
“We love selling big prize winning entries and it’s even better when it goes to a regular customer who we know is really deserving!
“Congratulations to him!”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, 4,182,602 winners pocketed more than $214.2 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
