A Mount Gambier husband’s long-standing tradition of gifting his wife a Saturday X Lotto ticket on their wedding anniversary has unwrapped a $2.4 million windfall.
The Limestone Coast couple held one of the two division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4569 on 3 May 2025. Each division one winning entry scored $2,478,143.82.
“Thank you very much! What an anniversary gift!” the winning woman exclaimed when her prize was confirmed by an official from The Lott.
“My husband got me the ticket – he bought it as my anniversary gift. Actually, he usually gets me a X Lotto ticket for our anniversary. It’s a bit of a tradition.
“We’ve been playing Lotto since the beginning of time, and I think the most we’ve ever won is $40 until now! I can’t believe it.
“I don’t know what to do with it, but my husband says he does,” the woman joked.
“I’d like to give some to the Fred Hollows Foundation and cancer research.
“I’m sure we’ll also enjoy a few holidays and help our adult children with their mortgages.
“It will be hard to beat this anniversary next year!”
The winning 50-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Rosaville Takeaway & Lotteries, 234 Commercial Street West, Mount Gambier.
Rosaville Takeaway & Lotteries owner Mally Domaschenz said he and the team were celebrating their biggest win.
“We would like to congratulate the lucky winner and wish them all the best for their future,” he said.
“We are so thrilled for them and our shop and hope this is the start of more to come after a drought of six years from our previous 12 division one winners!”
The winning numbers in Saturday X Lotto draw 4569 on 3 May 2025 were 30, 29, 16, 34, 43 and 27, while the supplementary numbers were 40 and 2.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4569 – one each from New South Wales and South Australia.
