A Mount Martha woman who entered a charity raffle after being diagnosed with breast cancer has received the surprise of a lifetime, winning the First Prize Pack worth $300,000 in yesterday’s Play For Purpose draw.
The $300,000 First Prize Pack from Play For Purpose Raffle 30, drawn Monday 16 March 2026, included A BMW X3 20 xDrive valued at $99,193.85, a Mini Countryman C valued at $60,245.10 and $140,561.05 of gold bullion.
Remarkably, it was the Mornington Peninsula woman’s first ever Play For Purpose ticket in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia, after the cause came close to home.
“Oh my gosh! I don’t know what to say. I’m so stunned right now!” she exclaimed.
“Do you know what? The reason I bought this is because we’ve been touched by breast cancer.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself very recently and it happens to over 20,000 women across Australia every year.
“My treatment is going well but that’s why the raffle came on my radar. Gosh, I’ve got tears now. I need a tissue.
“You’ve made my day! I’m going to be so cliche right now because I know everyone says this, but I've never won anything in my life.
“How will I be able to concentrate for the rest of the day after this? I can’t believe it. This is mind boggling.
“I’ve got to call my husband. He’ll be so shocked and surprised. Gosh, two cars and $140,000 of gold bullion!
“Thank you so much!”
The winning woman purchased her entry in support of Breast Cancer Network Australia at playforpurpose.com.au .
Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) Philanthropy Manager Claire Sarson said she was so excited to hear that a supporter with a close connection to the cause had won the First Prize Pack – marking the second Play for Purpose raffle in a row where someone from the BCNA community has taken out the top prize.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to see one of BCNA's supporters win this amazing prize – and even more excited knowing this is the second raffle in a row where someone from our BCNA community has taken home the top prize,” she said.
“Moments like this remind us just how powerful our community is. The generosity of our supporters is vital to everything we do, and every ticket purchased helps us continue our work and reach more people.
“A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket in support of BCNA. Your generosity helps ensure Australians affected by breast cancer can access the care, support and treatment they deserve. Let’s see if we can make it three in a row for BCNA supporters!”
Other major prize winners were from across Australia, including Clifton Beach, Brassall, Glen Iris and Buderim who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of Orange Sky, DV Safe Phone, Rural Doctors Foundation and Kindly Animal Sanctuary.
